Last Saturday's Tales and Secrets of the Grave cemetery walk, staged by the Dade Historical Society in the Baptist and Payne cemeteries, was a great success with over 80 people planning, portraying or attending the event. There was no rain and it turned out to be a perfect afternoon.
Thank you to the actors for portraying our "honorees." The actors were: Daniel Middlebrooks (John G. Jacoway), Paul Dugan (T.H.B. Cole, pictured below), Scott Tinker (Prisoner John Retherford), Sonya Middlebrooks (mother of John Rollins) at Baptist Cemetery; and Larry Case (James A. Case), Marshall Neely (Lemuel V. Coates) and Desta Cox Sims (Ann Tatum Thurman) (pictured at right) at Payne Cemetery.
The next meeting of the Historical Society will be Saturday, June 16 at the Library with a 2two-hour genealogy workshop to follow.
