Library News: Summer Reading Kids Treated to Rock City Fairytales

Emaly, Elena and Ashtyn Patterson with Little Red Riding Hood (Mary Beth Torgerson) in the forest before they met the Big Bad Wolf.

Last week our Summer Reading kids heard stories from Little Red Riding Hood who visited us from Rock City. They also got bookmarks, tickets and pictures to color from Rock City, and many of them had their pictures made with Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf.

The June 21 program will be a visit from Magician Ken Scott, who is a big favorite at Summer Reading. We have some DVDs of Mr. Scott’s program that can be checked out as well. Looking ahead, our June 28th program will be Animal Encounters with Reflection Riding Arboretum.

Our remaining Teen Programs in June will be Board Game Day on Wednesday, June 20, at 2 p.m., and VR Gaming on Wednesday, June 27, also at 2 p.m. at the library. We’ll have more in July.

Remember, if you don’t make it to the Thursday programs, just bring your reading logs in on any day the library is open to get them stamped and be entered for the week’s prizes. Also, books may be renewed over the phone or online. You just have to have your card number.

If you need books for the school’s own summer reading initiative, please come in or call to get them put on hold because it might take a couple of weeks to get them in.

We have pulled the books we have in the library that were chosen for the 100 books of the Great American Read. They are gathered in a display outside the history room. Come and check them out. We can get copies of others from other PINES libraries if you want them as well.
