Today's Traffic Snarl Caused by Semi v. Camaro Accident

The Georgia State Patrol reported that the crash that has tied up traffic in Dade and its environs today occurred this morning around 8:44 a.m. when a tractor trailer was traveling east on I-24 in the left lane. Vehicle 2, a Chevrolet Camaro, was traveling east on I-24 in the right lane. The tractor trailer drifted into the right lane and struck vehicle 2 in its left rear side with the truck's right front wheel.

After impact with vehicle 2, the semi traveled off the roadway on the left shoulder and down an embankment on the grass median. It then overturned onto its left side and came to a final rest facing east.

Vehicle 2, the Camaro, came to a controlled rest in the left lane of I-24.

The truckdriver, Ronnie Lee Branch, 53, of Hazlehurst, Ga., was charged with failure to maintain lane. The other driver was Amy Gail Burt, 28, of Fort Payne, Ala.

The GSP did not report injuries to either driver.
