Sgt. Chad Reports on Heroin Trafficking Arrest



Sgt. Chad Payne, information officer for the Dade County Sheriff's Office, made this report today, Thursday, July 5:

On Tuesday, July 3, a Dade County Drug Task Force agent received information that a male with a felony probation violation warrant out of Florida was at a location on Sand Mountain. The subject was on probation for trafficking heroin.

The DTF Agent, along with Dade County Sheriff's Office deputies, went to the residence, which was located off Highway 301, and located the male. While taking him into custody, law enforcement observed the drug LSD in open view.

The DTF Agent obtained a search warrant for the residence and located heroin, poppy seeds, and over 70 planters containing opium poppy plant seeds, which he was attempting to grow.

Also while searching the residence, a stolen motorcycle out of Florida was found and recovered.

The offender was taken to the Dade County Jail, where he was booked and is currently being held on a $10,000 bond.

Dakota A McBryar, 29, of Trenton, was charged with

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 controlled substance, two counts

  • Theft by receiving stolen property.
