Section Man Dies in Ultralight Accident in Jackson County

A Section, Ala.,man died when his ultralight plane crashed in Jackson County on Monday. According to Alabama news reports, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office got a call around 7 p.m. on Monday about a small plane crash in the Macedonia community on County Road 411. A North Wing 17M weight-shift-control aircraft had crashed between two houses. The pilot was identified as 54-year-old Rodney Cagle. First responders reported he was still strapped into the aircraft and alive when they found him, but died shortly thereafter. Cagle's obituary is on the front page of The Dade Planet.

Local reports said Cagle had recently obtained the aircraft and was an experienced pilot but crashed into a tree while on practice runs Monday.

Cagle was married with a stepson, according to his obituary. A memorial service will be held for him on Friday at Moore Funeral Home in Bryant.
