On Monday, July 9, at approximately 3 a.m., Dade County Deputy Hailey Smith conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 24 just west of Interstate 59. The vehicle attracted the deputy's attention because of its illegal window tint and no tag light.
The two subjects in the vehicle advised they were coming from Atlanta and going to Winchester, Tenn. Deputy Smith called for a K-9 unit, and the K-9 presented a positive alert on the vehicle. After searching the vehicle, Dade deputies located 8 ounces (1/2 pound) of methamphetamine.
Both occupants were arrested for trafficking methamphetamine and transported to the Dade County Jail for booking.
