This Year's Jayhawk Festival Aug. 4

The second annual Jayhawk Music and Arts Festival is from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, on the idyllic grounds of Pigeon Mountain Grill, 18381 Highway 193 in Chickamauga.

Jayhawk is a musical and arts event staged in memory of the late Jay Burgess by his son, local musician Vic Burgess, as a benefit for the Children's Advocacy Center of the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit, which serves Dade, Walker, Catoosa and Chattaooga counties. Admission is free, but there will be plenty of opportunities to donate to the CAC.

The featured musical act at this year's Jayhawk is international touring artist A.J. Croce, son of Jim Croce, the 1960-'70s superstar. There will also be 24 other acts on three stages.

Besides music, art and food and drink dished up by the Pigeon Mountain Grill, there will be numerous free and fun activities for kids, including Thomas the Train rides, balloon animals, face Painting and a bouncy house.

Jayhawk is still recruiting regional artists and crafters to show or sell as well as sponsors. For more information, please e-mail Jayhawkfest@gmail.com or search on Facebook for the Jayhawk Music & Arts Festival.
