Sgt. Chad Reports on Weekend Arrests

​​Sgt. Chad Payne is information officer for the Dade County Sheriff's Office. This is his report from Monday night, July 30.

On Monday, July 23, at approximately 1 a.m., a Dade County deputy was stationary on New Home Road observing traffic. While stationary, the deputy observed a vehicle driving recklessly. The deputy placed his patrol unit behind the vehicle and observed it fail to maintain its lane of travel.

After the vehicle came to a stop, the driver exited the vehicle and began to approach the deputy's vehicle. The deputy met the subject and immediately detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the male.


After some field sobriety tests, the male was taken into custody and transported to the Dade County Jail for booking, where he was released on bond on July 30.

  • Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

  • Reckless Driving

  • Failure to Maintain Lane


On July 23, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Dade County deputies were dispatched to a disturbance on Piney Road. Upon arrival, the deputies were advised that the suspect listed had made serious threats of bodily harm on Facebook toward his elderly landlady. Upon further investigation, it was found that the male suspect had sent threatening text messages and left threatening voicemails in addition to the Facebook post.

The deputies relocated to the residence of the suspect, Timothy A. Sutt (left), 21, of Trenton, made contact with him, and took him into custody for Terroristic Threats and/or Acts. He was released on a $2,500 bond.
