Two Rescues at Cloudland Canyon On Saturday

Cloudland Canyon State Park manager Brad Gibson reported that two accidents that required rescue efforts happened at the park over the Labor Day Weekend. Both the incidents happened on Saturday.

The first rescue, which Gibson said took place at about 1:15 p.m., was of a middle-aged gentleman who slipped off the park's main overlook, falling about 20 feet. He only sustained a bruised rib and was transported to Erlanger Medical Center.

The second accident victim was a middle-aged woman who slipped at around 2:30 p.m. the same afternoon in Bear Creek along the Sitton's Gulch, or "Blue Hole," trail, said the ranger. She only sustained a sprained ankle and did not request transportation to the hospital.

Park rangers, the New Salem Volunteer Fire Department and Dade County Emergency Services responded.
