Sgt. Chad Reports: DUI Hits Utility Pole, Blacks Out Piney

Sgt. Chad Payne is information officer for the Dade County Sheriff's Office.

On Thursday, Sept. 13, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Dade County units were dispatched to the 200 block of Piney Road in reference to a wrecked vehicle. When deputies arrived, they found a male subject walking around the accident scene.

They found that there were no injuries, and requested Georgia State Patrol to come to the scene to work the accident. The accident was found to have broken a power pole, and utility lines were on the ground. Georgia Power was contacted and arrived on scene shortly after.

Upon the arrival of GSP, the driver, Dustin D. Nunley, 26, of Trenton, was taken into custody for the listed charges and transported to the jail for booking.


Several homes in the Piney Area were without power for several hours as a result of this accident, but all power has since been restored.

Nunley was charged with

  • Failure to Maintain Lane

  • Expired Tag Too Fast for Conditions

  • DUI - Alcohol.
