Homecoming Parade and Bonfire Set for Oct. 4

The Dade County High School homecoming parade will be held on Thursday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. The parade route will begin at the Bank of Dade and will end at Moore Funeral Home.

The parade will begin lineup at 6:30 p.m. on Georgia Avenue. Participants may enter the lineup site by turning onto First Street beside Trenton United Methodist Church and taking a left onto Bond Street, followed by a final left onto Georgia Avenue.

All school-affiliated groups will need to line up on Georgia Avenue. All other groups will line up on Bond Street. The intersections of Georgia Avenue and Highway 11, Montague Street and Georgia Avenue, and Georgia Avenue and Sunset Drive will be roped off beginning at 6:10 p.m. Any group wishing to participate in the parade needs to email Becky Goff at beckygoff@dadecs.org.

This year’s homecoming theme is “It’s a Small-Town World.” Participants in the parade are encouraged to incorporate this theme into their parade entry.

The purpose of the homecoming parade is to celebrate the relationship between the Dade County School System, its students and the community as a whole, so all are invited to join in the festivities.

In accordance with this theme of unity, no floats or vehicles displaying political signs or bumper stickers will be allowed to participate. All entries incorporating animals are asked to line up last and provide their own waste disposal.
