Don't Forget Ag Day!

Dade County used to be a full-fledged, card-carryin', cotton-pickin', corn-huskin', cow-milkin' farm community. These days? Less so. If you enjoy seeing cashiers cry, try buying a turnip instead of a frozen pizza at any local grocery store. If it hasn't got a barcode, most people don't recognize it as food.

But one group stands firm and proud for agriculture in the Independent State of Dade--4-H! 4-H nurtures not only the county's vegetable growers and cattlemen but beekeepers, blacksmiths and craftspeople as well. And this Thursday, Sept. 20, is 4-H's annual opportunity to show the county what it's go--the 2018 Agricultural Fair, AKA Ag Day.

The fair is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Ag Building--that's the big metal building in front of Dade Middle School off Highway 136 West. Admittance is free and there will be all sorts of interesting booths, things to see, things to buy, things to learn and things to eat. Last year's version was as big and as well-attended as any festival in Dade.

So don't miss out! Be there for the crafts, the animals, the honey and the great company. See you there?
