The Georgia Bureau of Investigation issued this press release today regarding the arrest of a Dade substitute teacher.
On Thursday, Sept. 20, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) arrested Dade County substitute Teacher Amanda Lenea Pardue of Trenton, 35, on charges of electronically furnishing obscene material to minors, computer or electronic pornography and child exploitation (felony).
On Friday, Aug. 31, the GBI was requested by Trenton Police Chief Christy Smith to conduct a child molestation investigation concerning Pardue sending inappropriate messages and pictures of herself to several 14-year-old male juveniles. After numerous investigative acts and consulting with the Lookout Mountain District Attorney’s Office, the GBI obtained arrest warrants for Pardue.
Pardue turned herself in at the Dade County jail without incident.

Chief Smith declined to say how the Trenton Police Department came to begin investigating, but Superintendent of Schools Jan Harris said the request had not come from her office.
Dr. Harris said Ms. Pardue had begun substituting almost exactly two years ago, Sept. 19, 2016, and that she didn't believe she had substituted at all this year. "I took her off the sub list when I was notified there was an investigation," said the superintendent.
Dr. Harris issued a written statement about the incident earlier today, which reads as follows:
We are saddened to learn about the arrest of a former substitute teacher. This individual is no longer employed as a substitute teacher with Dade County Schools.
