Sgt. Chad Payne is information officer for the Dade County Sheriff's Office.
On Sunday, Sept. 23, at approximately 7 a.m., Dade County deputies were dispatched to the 1100 block of Interstate 24 for a disabled vehicle.
Upon arrival, the deputies found the vehicle occupied by several adults and an infant. The driver was found to be passed out behind the wheel of the vehicle. After several attempts to arouse the driver, he finally became responsive.
He was found to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance. He was placed into custody and transported to the jail for booking. After arriving at the jail, the offender was found to be in possession of a schedule 4 narcotic.
