Sgt. Chad Reports Drug Arrests

Sgt. Chad Payne is information officer for the Dade County Sheriff's Office.

On Sept. 20, at approximately 9 p.m., Dade County deputies were dispatched to Phillips Lane in reference to a male with outstanding warrants being in an area in the county. Dispatch provided the description of Ricky Phillips, 62, of Lookout Mountain, Ga., and confirmed that the subject listed did have active warrants.

Upon the arrival of deputies in the specified area, they located a subject there next to a vehicle. That subject, Joseph G. Prebula (right), 56, of Rossville, advised that he had not seen Mr. Phillips. When he exited the vehicle, an item commonly associated with drug use was seen on the front seat.

​​Upon the arrival of another patrol car, Mr Phillips was located in the woods just west of where Mr Prebula and the vehicle were found. A Dade County K-9 was used to conduct a free-air search around the vehicle, and delivered a positive indication. After a search of the vehicle, methamphetamine, marijuana and several different items associated with drug use were located.

Both subjects were taken into custody and transported to the jail for the listed charges, and Mr Phillips was served with his outstanding warrants.

  • Possession of Methamphetamine

  • Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute

  • Possession of Marijuana

  • Possession of Drug-Related Objects

  • Willful Obstruction of Law Enforcement.


Ricky Phillips was charged with

  • Possession of Methamphetamine

  • Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute

  • Possession of Marijuana

  • Possession of Drug-Related Objects.
