Helen Jeanette Foster


Helen Jeanette Foster, 89, of Rising Fawn, died surrounded by her family Sunday afternoon, Nov. 4, 2018. She had retired from the Dade County School System after 38 years of service and was a member of New Salem United Methodist Church. She was Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star Dade Chapter #476.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, George F. Foster, Sr.; parents, Russell and Maggie Keith Brown; and sisters, Margaret (Dot) Gray and Mamie L. Givens.

Surviving are her daughter, Linda Foster Ezell, Nashville, Tenn.; son, George F. Foster Jr., Lookout Mtn., Ga; grandchildren, Adam L. (Heidi) Foster and Sarah Foster (Eli) Griggs; great-grandchildren, Layla, Levi, Laurel and Louis; brother, Russell L. Brown, Chickamauga; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Ryan Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. Jodie Ihfe officiating. Interment will follow in Hawkins Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the New Salem United Methodist Church Building Fund.
