Civil War Medicine this Thursday, Cooking Classes all November

We saw over 1300 people at the library on our Trick or Treat night. Thanks to all who helped to make that a success.

We’re having another photo contest at the library. This time we’re looking for your best pictures from any Georgia state park. We will display the pictures throughout the month and they will be judged and prizes awarded. Bring your pictures by during November.

Patron Appreciation Day is Wednesday, November 7. We will have a display of books and lists giving tips on how to make the holidays less stressful. We will also have some goodies for you.

The Dade County Historical Society will have a program at the library on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. The program will be about medical practices of the Civil War and the speaker is Anthony Hodges. The program is FREE and anyone interested is welcome.

The library will be having its annual Food for Fines drive throughout the month of November. We will accept up to 10 cans of food to cancel out up to $10 in overdue fines. Of course, you can give more if you would like to. So help yourself by getting rid of some fines, and help the Food Bank help some folks in need at the same time. It’s a win/win.

Interested in learning how to cook healthy food? There will be FREE cooking classes at the library on Wednesdays throughout the month of November. They will focus on tasty, easy, inexpensive plant-based cuisine. The classes are from 5-6 p.m. on Nov. 7, 14, 21 and 28. The themes are Italian night, chips and dips, dessert day and International night. For more information: email kathleenmay391@gmail.com.
