Sgt. Chad Reports on Drug Arrests, Coming Holidays and More

Sgt. Chad Payne is information officer for the Dade County Sheriff's Office.

On Monday, Nov. 5, at approximately 4 p.m., Sheriff Ray Cross, Dade County deputies, the Dade County Drug Task Force agent and a Department of Community Supervision officer did a home visit to an address off Brow Road in the Davis community.

Upon arrival, the law enforcement officers located two subjects at the residence and found both to be in possession of methamphetamine. The resident of the address on Brow Road, James R. Bethune, 63, was also found to be in violation of the terms of his probation.

Bethune (right) was charged with possession of methamphetamine and violation of probation (felony).

The other subject, Chandler A. Palmer (left), 27, of Flat Rock, Ala., was charged with possession of methamphetamine.

On a side note.... Sheriff Cross wants to remind everyone that the holiday season is here, and burglaries can occur more often during this time.

The Sheriff, along with his administrative staff, has directed all deputies to be more present in neighborhoods and on back roads in hope to deter any crime. The sheriff also reminds residents to lock all vehicles and houses, as well as not to leave valuables in plain view.

"Together, we can make this a safer holiday season!" said Sheriff Ray Cross.

And on yet another note, the sheriff wishes to thank all agencies that came out to assist with the fatal accident on I-24 last Friday, the subsequent road closure and the cleanup.

Sheriff Cross also wants to give a very special thanks to the Tennessee Department of Transportation for being one of the first on scene, staying throughout the incident, and sending more help to sand the roadway without even being asked to do so.

Sheriff Cross said: "TDOT workers are the kind of people that don't care about a state line when it comes to saving lives."
