GSP Report on Second Monday I-59 Accident (Semi v. Mustang)

Here is the Georgia State Patrol preliminary report on last night's fatal I-59 accident, which local law enforcement had to hurry to from the scene of one earlier in the afternoon that had shut down the highway. The Planet reproduces the GSP report here verbatim:

On Nov. 19, at approximately 6:40 p.m., Vehicle #1 (2007 Ford Mustang) was traveling south on I-59 in the right lane. Vehicle #2 (Tractor-trailer) was on the right shoulder attempting to pull to the right lane. The driver of vehicle #2 saw the headlights of vehicle #1 approaching and took the right lane. Vehicle #1 struck the back of vehicle #2 in the rear with the front of vehicle #1.

Vehicle #1 came to rest facing east on the east shoulder of the roadway. Vehicle #2 came to a controlled stop on the west shoulder of the roadway.

The Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) is conducting a follow-up investigation.

Driver #1 - Thomas Walling, age 34 of Rossville, was fatally injured.

Driver #2 - Stephen Farmer, age 35 of Collinsville, AL, was not injured.

Passenger #2 - Thomas Miller, age 72 of Sylvania, AL, was not injured.
