Nominate a Book for Our Library Book Club!

We hope you are all enjoying the lights and decorations in Veterans Park on the Square and around the library. Notice there are some warm things: gloves, scarves, etc., hanging on some trees. They are there for those who need them.

It’s that time of year again for our Book Club, which meets at the Dade County Public Library. At our Tuesday, Dec. 18, meeting, we will meet to decide what books we will be reading in 2019.

Here is how it works: each of us nominates a book or books for the Book Club to read. When nominating, we give a little sales pitch for that book, telling just a little about it, and if possible, bringing a copy of the book to show to everyone. After all the nominations are made, we vote. The Top Eleven books chosen will be the books we read and discuss next year. Then we assign books to months and publish our list. Whoever nominated the book will lead the discussion on that book.

By the way, you may join us without nominating a book; you still get a vote. Our book for January of 2019 has already been selected, Before We Were Yours, by Lisa Wingate.

And don’t let me forget—while nominating and voting, we will be enjoying the snacks that members have brought for everyone to enjoy. So, if you are interested, bring a

snack or two, nominate a book if you wish, and enjoy talking with us about books! The meeting begins at 7 p.m.

The library will be closed for the holidays on Dec. 25 and 26, Tuesday and Wednesday. Of course, we are normally closed on Mondays, (the 24th). We will re-open on Thursday, Dec. 27, for normal hours.
