Sgt. Chad Reports: Holidays Reap Multiple Overindulgence Violations



Sgt. Chad Payne is information officer for the Dade County Sheriff's Department.

On Dec. 19, at approximately 3 p.m., Dade County deputies were dispatched to Highway 299 in reference to a suspicious female. On arrival the deputies found the female lying over the guardrail, possibly intoxicated. When the deputies asked the female questions, she became combative toward them and they placed her under arrest. She was then transported to the Dade County Jail for booking.


That subject, Catina M. Pyle (right) , 41, of Nashville, Tenn., was charged with public drunkeness.

On December 22, at approximately 3:20 a.m., a Dade County sergeant observed a vehicle traveling on Interstate 59 unable to maintain its lane of travel. The Sergeant conducted a traffic stop and detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage. After field


sobriety test were completed, the female driver was taken into custody for DUI and transported to the Dade County Jail for booking.

The driver, Louise E Taggart, 35, of Rising Fawn, was charged with driving Under the influence of alcohol and failure to maintain lane.

On December 25, Christmas Day, at approximately 9 p.m., a Dade County sergeant was patrolling the West Brow community when he came upon a male walking in the middle of the road on Moore Road. The Deputy had to "brake and swerve aggressively," he said, so he would not hit the pedestrian with his patrol cruiser.


The deputy found that the male pedestrian was intoxicated and placed him under arrest. He was then transported to the Dade County Jail for booking.

Tom B. Turnipseed, 66, of Chattanooga, was charged with pedestrian under the influence
