Our Book Club met last week and had a good turnout. We appreciates having a visit from John and Becky Currie, who own the local bookstore here in Trenton, Books Never Ending: Books New and Used. They let us know that they could order books for members of the Book Club. John said it takes about a week to get a used book, and a couple of days to get a new one.
Remember, our Book Club meets on the third Tuesday of each month, so we will be meeting on Tuesday, February 19, at 7 p.m. to discuss our next book, Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz.
The library has a shipment of new books in and they will go out fast. Here is a partial list. See if there are any that interest you: Becoming by Michelle Obama; Best of Us by Robyn Carr; Christmas Secret by Katherine Spencer; House of Trump: The Untold Story of Donald Trump and the Russian Mafia by Craig Unger; The New Childhood: Raising Kids to Thrive in a Connected World by Jordan Shapiro; Of Blood and Bone by Nora Roberts; Robert B. Parker’s Blood Feud by Mike Lupica; Siege of Stone: Sister of Darkness, Volume 3 of the Nicci Chronicles by Terry Goodkind; To the Moon and Back by Karen Kingsbury; Turning Point by Danielle Steel; Vita Nostra by Marina Dyachenko. The Dade County Historical Society still has some historical calendars for sale. Some of the pictures are the Courthouse, Gross Mercantile, the Nisbet house in Cloverdale, the Cole Plantation home
and family, the old jail, the home and family of Isaac Houston Wheeler, Sitton’s Mill, the Easley Plantation in Rising Fawn, John L. Case Mercantile, the Oddfellow’s Building, and an early picture of Rising Fawn School. This year’s calendars are made with a heavier stock of paper, and the picture quality is better than last year’s, but the price is still $10.
