Schools Close Tuesday In Reaction to Snow Threat

Superintendent Jan Harris has once again declared a snow day closure for Dade Schools on Tuesday, Jan. 28.

Dr. Harris said the governor's just-announced closure of state offices in northwestern Georgia counties had affected her decision to close the schools again Tuesday, and that she understood a front was predicted to move in around 4 a.m. Tuesday that had the potential to dump three to four inches of snow in the county. She said she believed Catoosa and Walker county schools were also closing.

Temperatures were no worse than chilly, and nothing more threatening than clouds appeared in the sky, on Thursday when the schools were last closed due to a weather scare.

But Dr. Harris repeated her weather policy of better-safe-than-sorry. "We'll see in the morning," she said.

She said basketball games scheduled for Tuesday had been rescheduled for tonight at the high school.
