She was young, she may have looked like Little Orphan Annie, she died 30 years ago, and law enforcement wants your help in finding out who murdered her.
Special Agent Joe Montgomery of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation held a joint press conference with Dade County Sheriff Ray Cross today to present this new artist's rendering of what a young woman found dead in Dade County on Dec. 16, 1988, may have looked like and to ask members of the public to report anything they may have seen back then that might help law enforcement find her killers.
The body was found, badly decomposed, off I-59 about 5.3 miles from the Alabama border and has never been identified. "That means her killers are also unidentified," reminded Agent Montgomery.
He explained that the bureau hoped, with the new artistic rendering and the greater reach of law enforcement appeals in these days of social media, that someone might now be reached who would remember seeing or who would have some information about the "Jane Doe." From extrapolation on forensic evidence, she had red hair, was from 25 to 35 years old, was five feet, seven inches tall and weighed around 125. The GBI thinks she was murdered somewhere else and brought to the interstate to be dumped.
Montgomery talked about the difficulties of connecting unidentified bodies with missing persons from different jurisdictions. "It is very trying," he said. But he said that no matter how cold a case is, the GBI still strives to solve it. "We don't ever stop looking," he said.

The artist's rendering of the Jane Doe shows a young woman with a curly mop of bright red hair, prominent front teeth and mottled skin. Montgomery said he didn't know precisely how the forensic artist came up with the hairstyle or skin tone.
