Georgia State Patrol Report on Saturday Morning Accident

A teen driver veering precipitously into the left lane caused the two-car collision at Wildwood that shut down the interstate Saturday morning. Here is the Georgia State Patrol report on the accident:

This crash occurred around 9:36 a.m. on March 30. Vehicles #1 and #2 were traveling east on I-24. Driver #1 was attempting to change lane to the left when her vehicle struck vehicle #2 in the right front. Vehicle #1 then rotated counter-clockwise off the roadway into the median. Vehicle #1 then overturned coming to rest onto its right side in the left westbound lane of I-24 facing north.

Driver of vehicle #2 lost control , rotated counter- clockwise off the roadway into the median. Vehicle #2 then overturned, coming to rest on its left side in westbound lane of I-24 facing west.

Vehicle #1 - 2005 Honda LX; Driver #1 - Shelby Brooke Atchley, 17, of Trenton. She was charged with Improper Lane Change. She was injured and taken to Erlanger.

Vehicle #2 - 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer Driver #2 - Courtney Emery, 24, of Norris City, IL. She was injured and taken to Erlanger.
