The Dade County Board of Education had a special called meeting Wednesday afternoon and heard an extensive presentation by ABM, the Alabama-based facilities management company engaged by the board to give the county schools an “energy makeover.” ABM’s guarantee is that its energy-efficient changes save schools enough to more than cover its fees.
ABS presented the board three options, option 1 being the most extensive, option 3 the barest-bones and option 2 in between. The board seemed unimpressed by option 1. “If you’re only talking about offsetting all but $940,000, it doesn’t add up in my book,” said the board’s newest member, Daniel Case, adding: “I’m just one guy.” But the board took no action on any of the options at the April 24 meeting, specifying it was for information only.
The board went into executive session and upon resuming regular session approved the personnel recommendations listed on the attached list.
