Come For Fab Lupi's Pizza and Composting Movie on the 21st!

Our next FREE cooking class at the library is Wednesday, May 15 at 5:30 p.m. If you didn’t make our last class, ask for some of the recipes at the desk. These are vegetarian recipes.

The Book Club will meet on Tuesday, May 21, at 7 p.m. to discuss The Cartographer of No Man’s Land by P.S. Duffy. From a hardscrabble village in Nova Scotia to the collapsing trenches of France, this debut novel is about a family divided by World War I.

Just before the Book Club on the 21st, we’re having another event that is FREE to the public. Come out for Dinner and a Movie on Tuesday, May 21, at 5:30 p.m. The FREE meal will be provided by Lupi’s Pizza Pie. The film is Symphony of the Soil. Following the film, there will be a demonstration and discussion of compost, waste and resources. In order to let us know how much food to have on hand, please RSVP by calling the library at (706) 657-7857. There will be door prizes as well. Please call by Friday, May 17, to reserve your place.

Our last Ready-to-Read Class before Summer Reading will be Thursday, May 16, at 10:30 a.m. Then we’ll be getting ready for our summer programs. Sign-ups for Summer Reading begin on May 20. Go to chrl.org and look for the Summer Reading icon. Summer Reading programs begin on June 6.

The folks in the Dade County Historical Society have been very busy printing pictures and getting ready for the Cemetery Walk on May 18. Those attending need to park at the Piney Grove Baptist Church where a bus will transport you to the Brock Cemetery. It starts at 4 p.m., and buses will leave the parking lot at 3:50, 4:50 and 5:50 p.m. Please arrive by half past the hour.

There will be four actors portraying four of the historical figures buried there, and there will also be posters with pictures and information about some of the other interesting people buried there. Many of them were real movers and shakers in the earlier days of Dade County. For more information, pick up a flyer at the library. Those

to be portrayed are author George Washington Harris, Dr. James Russell Brock, Colonel Douglas Morrison and his wife, Catherine Clarke Morrison.

Linda Wilson is everybody's favorite retired English teacher and a faithful library volunteer. You can email her at lanew@tvn.net.
