Register Your Kid for Summer Reading!

Registration for Summer Reading begins on Monday, May 20. Go to the website for the Cherokee Regional Library at chrl.org and look for the Beanstack icon. Choose the Dade County Library and set up an account and register your children for Summer Reading. If you need help or need access to a computer, just come by the library to register.

There will be an app available so that you can record the books your child has read, even scan them in. Paper logs will be available, too. Summer Reading will run from June 6 to July 18. All the June programs will be on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. After registering, come by the library and pick up packets for each child.

Summer Reading is for teens, too! We have programs for students from grades 6 to 12. Register them as well. The first teen program is Night Sky Star Painting on Tuesday, June 11, at 5:30 p.m. There will be four programs for teens.

There will be programs for adults this summer, too. Our Book Club meets each month on the third Tuesday at 7 p.m. A list of the books we’re reading can be found on the counter at the library. There will be some additional programs to be announced later.

Our next Healthy Cooking class will be this Wednesday, May 22, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The last one will be Wednesday, May 29, also at 6:30 p.m. For more information email s.r.campos15@gmail.com.

There will not be a Ready-to-Read class until after Summer Reading is over, but bring those kids to the Summer Reading programs instead.

Linda Wilson is everybody's favorite retired English teacher and a faithful library volunteer.
