On Thursday, May 30, at approximately 11 p.m., Dade County deputies were advised by dispatch of a vehicle traveling north on Interstate 59 in the southbound lanes.
While deputies were responding to the area, dispatch notified them that a head-on collision had occurred on Interstate 24 West. Upon the arrival of deputies, it was found that the vehicle traveling in the wrong direction, appeared to have struck an oncoming vehicle head-on.
The female driver who was traveling the wrong way was found to be deceased on scene. The occupants of the other vehicle, one adult and one child. were transported to the hospital by ground ambulance.
Georgia State Patrol is working with the Dade County Sheriff's Office to investigate the accident.
