Goff Struck on Town Square on Motorcycle

News alert:

Dade County Executive Ted Rumley confirmed just now he was following an ambulance containing District 3 Commissioner Robert Goff to a hospital in Chattanooga after Goff was struck by a car while riding his motorcycle in downtown Trenton.

Coincidentally, Rumley was on the phone answering The Planet's questions about another matter when he got an emergency call concerning Goff's accident. He called back a few minutes later to say Goff had been struck on Third Street, at the southeast corner of the Trenton town square.

He said Goff was alert and talking though he appeared badly scratched, and that the commissioner would be further assessed at the hospital. Trenton Police Chief Christy Smith said she could not furnish the name of the driver who hit Goff just yet--another officer was working the stop--but that the driver was being ticketed for the accident. But she had visited the accident scene herself and also reported that Goff looked in pretty good shape.
