We had a good crowd last week for our first Summer Reading Program. When this program is going on, we have all hands on deck, staff and volunteers, and we are very busy. Just a warning: if you need help on computers or copying or faxing, we will get to you as quickly as we can, but there might be a little wait. Thursdays between 10 a.m. and noon will be very busy and noisy, so it might be best to avoid coming at that time, unless you are coming for the program.
If you have not registered your kids for Summer Reading and need assistance, please come by the library any time we are open and we will help you out with that. You may do it at home by going to chrl.org and clicking on Beanstack. You can download an app to scan the books your child has read without having to write them down. If you choose to keep up with hours reading instead of number of books, you can enter that as well. Let us know at the desk when your child has done their reading for the week and entered it on the app so that we can give them a prize room ticket. Teens and adults can sign up for summer reading as well at the same site.
Our program for this week, Thursday, June 13, is Marc Griffiths. Mark performed on Britain’s Got Talent! He is a hilarious and inspirational ventriloquist. The library opens at 10 a.m. if you would like to get here a little early to check out books, and the program begins at 10:30. You may park out front or in the lot on the other side of Lalito’s, or the school’s lot. Please do not park in the lot for Trenton Physical Therapy as those spaces are needed for their patients.
Our June 20 program will be our Lego Expo, so the kids can design their own Lego creations to be displayed that day. It would help if they could bring them in a day or so before the 20th so we can have everything set up for display.
We will have two adult summer reading programs, back-to-back, on June 18. At 5:30 p.m., Georgeann will show us how to make cake pops the original way. Everyone will get to decorate and take some home with them that evening. The library will supply the ingredients. This class will be from 5:30-7 p.m. Immediately following, the Book Club will meet at 7 p.m. to discuss Born a Crime by Trevor Noah.
The School Nutrition program will have FREE sack lunches for kids at the library Tuesdays through Fridays during the month of June.
