On June 12, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Dade County deputies were dispatched to an address on Tatum Gulf Road for a welfare check. The complainant advised that a male was at the address “talking out of his head,” hearing voices, and that there were children in the house.
Deputies responded to the address and passed a vehicle on Tatum Gulf that matched the description of what the male subject was supposed to be driving. The Dade County deputies activated their emergency equipment and attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle. When they did that, the driver began to flee from the deputies and refused to stop.
The deputies pursued the vehicle through Dade County and into Walker County. Walker County Sheriff’s Office deputies deployed spike strips at the intersection of Highway 193 and Nickajack Road, successfully contacting the vehicle.The vehicle continued onto Highway 341, where it eventually came to a stop due to deflated tires.
Dade and Walker County Deputies took the driver into custody, and he is currently being held at the Dade County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
Further investigation found that the vehicle the offender was driving was stolen.
