Come Tie-Dye Shirts at the Library!

The staff and Friends of the Library wish everyone a happy Fourth of July. The library will be closed Thursday to celebrate Independence Day, but we will back open on Friday.

There will be no Summer Reading program this Thursday since we will be closed. Our next Summer Reading program for kids will be a Moon Gazing Party on Friday, July 12, at 8:30 p.m. This will be led by our local Astronomy Club. Come use telescopes to see and talk about some cool things in space.

We have more exciting news. The Friends of the Library has been given money for the library to purchase several telescopes and they will soon be available to check out from the library. We will let you know when they are here.

Our next Teen Summer Reading Program will be on Tuesday, July 9, at 5:30 p.m. and this will be Galaxy Tie Dye. Come tie-dye your shirt at the library! All materials provided! Pick out your precut vinyl shape and once your shirt is dry, come back to the library on July 16 to press the vinyl onto your shirt, or bring another shirt to decorate with vinyl shapes. The July 16 program is also at 5:30 p.m.

Our next Adult Summer Reading Class will be a photography class on Tuesday, July 9, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Want to capture the perfect picture? We will give you a crash course in photography. This will include basic settings, exposure, light to dark settings, composition and layout.

Our Book Club, which meets on Tuesday, July 16, will be discussing The Pale Criminal by Philip Kerr.

Looking ahead, kids’ last Summer Reading Class will be a science fair on Thursday, July 18, at 10:30 a.m. Our last adult summer program will be a Local Author’s Day and Book Signing on Saturday, July 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you or someone you know is a local author and we haven’t contacted you about this event, please call the library and let us know.

The Tween Book Club will meet Tuesday, July 25, at 3 p.m.
