Trenton United Methodist Church invites all to attend its quarterly Community Lunch which will honor local veterans. The lunch will take place at the church Fellowship Hall from noon-1 p.m. on Friday, September 6. There is no charge for the lunch. Citizens, government officials and businesspersons of Trenton and Dade County are invited to come and enjoy a meal with our local veterans. The featured speaker for this event will be Dade resident General Joe Cosumano Jr.
Gen. Joseph M. Cosumano Jr. (ret.) served on active duty from Aug. 3 1968, to Feb. 4, 2004. His 35 years and nine months of service spanned the Vietnam War through the Iraq/Afghanistan Era. He began his career as an air defense artilleryman, became an Army aviator and flew from 1973 to 1984. He then returned to air defense artillery, where he served at every level of command, culminating his career as a three-star general. His position before retirement was commanding general of the U.S. Army, Space and Missile Defense Command.
In retirement, he worked as a government contractor for ATK Thioko (2004); Halliburton/KBR (2005-2009); Agility Defense and Government Services (2009-2013); and finally CFDRC (2013-2016).
General Cosumano and his wife, Chanelle, have five grown daughters, three of whom are married and two in college at UAB and Auburn, respectively.
