The Georgia State Patrol has released the names of the two people killed in Monday's fatal single-car accident on I-24 in Dade County. These were Joe Owen Armbrust, 83, who was driving, and passenger Dorothy Armbrust, 85. The Armbrusts were from Little Rock, Arkansas.
As to what may have been the cause of the crash, GSP specified its investigation was not complete, but released the following report:
On Oct. 21, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a GSP trooper was dispatched to a one-vehicle crash on I-24 West at mile marker 168 in Dade County. Upon his arrival, the trooper learned that the two occupants in the vehicle were deceased.
The trooper’s investigation concluded that a 1997 Acura TL was traveling west on I-24 and was negotiating a curve to the right. Driver #1 lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway on the east shoulder and began traveling across a large grass median before striking an embankment and rolling onto its top coming to a final uncontrolled rest. Both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene by the Dade County Coroner. There were no witnesses to the collision.
