Addiction Workshop at Library This Month!

It’s not exaggerating to say we had another very successful Trick or Treat at the library and on the square, in spite of the weather not cooperating. It turns out the weather was not that bad although it looked cloudy and threatening. We think we had well over 1,000 people go through. I think everyone enjoyed our Star Wars theme.

There will be a free seminar called "Living Free" at the library on Tuesday, November 12, and Tuesday, November 19, at the library. It is presented by Taste and See and Vaughan Sparrow. It is a seminar about overcoming addiction, stress and depression. There will be free books, free food and live music. The program on the 12th begins at 6:30 p.m. and the one on the 19th begins at 5:30 p.m. These programs are brought to us by the folks at Wildwood Sanitarium.

We haven’t filled the position of education coordinator yet; but never fear, our library manager, Marshana Sharp, is handling our Ready-to-Read programs until we do, and we know she has lots of experiences. She says we will be doing some programs relating to Thanksgiving during the month of November, and we still meet at 10:30 a.m. on Thursdays.

The Dade County Historical Society will have a genealogy workshop at the library on Tuesday, November 5, from 6-8 p.m. There will be no formal program, but you can get assistance from Historical Society members on researching your family tree. There is no charge for this.

The program Ancestry can be accessed for free at the library any time.
