MARION COUNTY, Tenn.--Special agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have arrested and charged a Bell Buckle, Tenn., man accused of driving his vehicle toward law enforcement officers attempting to arrest him following a pursuit last night. At the request of 12th District Attorney General J. Michael Taylor, TBI Agents began investigating an officer-involved shooting Tuesday night in Marion County that involved deputies from the Dade County (Ga.) Sheriff’s Department. At the time of this release, preliminary information indicated that, earlier Tuesday evening, deputies in Dade County attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven by Grandall Massengale, date of birth (2-9-95). Massengale reportedly refused to stop and a pursuit ensued which continued into neighboring Marion County, Tennessee, where the driver crashed the vehicle in a wooded area on Highway 134.
While Dade County deputies attempted to take Massengale into custody, he reportedly continued to attempt to elude officers and drove in their direction. Deputies subsequently fired upon the vehicle, striking Massengale, who was struck, injured and hospitalized. Following his discharge today, Agents arrested Massengale, charged him with two counts of aggravated assault, and subsequently booked him into the Marion County Jail, where, at the time of this release, he was being held on $25,000 bond.
