Have you ever thought about joining a Book Club? We have a Book Club at the library which meets monthly. Our December meeting, which is Tuesday, December 17, at 7 p.m., is when we choose the books we are going to read in 2020. We all bring finger foods for a little Christmas cheer. We nominate books to read for next year and then the whole group votes for the top 11 books (we don’t have a discussion in December). Anyone interested is welcome to join us.
The Ready-to-Read class will be getting the children ready for the holidays. On the 19th, we will have a party.
The library will be closed for the Christmas holidays on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, December 24-26, and reopen on Friday, December 27. So that our patrons will not be inconvenienced too much, we will be open on Monday, December 23, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. We are normally closed on Mondays, but we decided to open on the 23rd for those who need to use the library that week. So come in and get some movies and books to enjoy during the holidays.
The Friends of the Dade County Public Library still have plenty of our historical Christmas ornaments for sale. All individual ornaments, including the new one of Davis School, are $15. If you are missing any of the 14 ornaments from your collection, we have a few extras of all of them. If you would like to purchase a complete set of 14 ornaments, they are $195 per set. They are available at the library and would make great Christmas gifts.
The Dade County Historical Society has its new 2020 Historical calendars out. This year the pictures are of historical churches in the county. The calendars are $10 and are available at the library.
Kids can post their letters to Santa Claus at the library. We have letters they can address and tell Santa what they want and the mailboxes to post them in.
