Have you made any New Year’s resolutions? Why not resolve to read more? If you don’t have a library card, come by and we’ll get you set up. If you live in Georgia, work in Georgia, or own property in Georgia, your library card is free. If you are out-of-state, there is a fee of $25 per family. This card allows you to check out books, movies, audiobooks, state park and museum passes, and to access library computers. You may also check out digital books, audiobooks, and magazines by setting up an RBDigital account. This is also free with a library card. We can help you set it up.
There are several other online services offered by our library system. You can access the PINES card catalog, put books on hold, register for our Winter Reading Challenge, access Georgia’s Virtual Library GALILEO, find legal forms to print, learn a new language using our MANGO program, practice for your driving test, and see what programs are being offered at the Dade County Library and the other libraries in our Cherokee Regional System. The 2020 Book Club list was in last week’s edition, but if you missed it, you can find it on our Facebook page, Friends of the Dade County Georgia Library. The Book Club meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the library. January’s book is The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer.
If you have a pre-schooler, remember we have Ready-to-Read classes every week on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Our children’s specialist reads stories and does learning activities with the children and then they do a craft.
