Our first Book Club meeting of 2020 will be Tuesday evening, January 21, at 7 p.m. at the library. We will be discussing The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer.
This book is historical fiction set in the Guernsey Islands. The islands are under British control but are much nearer to France. During WW II, they were occupied by the Nazis and that is when the story is set. A movie has been made based on the book and is available on Netflix.

Census workers are still being hired to complete the 2020 census. If you are interested, apply online at 2020census.gov/jobs. If you need to use a computer here at the library, we have plenty available.
Speaking of census records, if you are interested in researching your family history, census records are a great resource. Census records up to 1940 are available to the public through Ancestry.com and Ancestry.com is available to use for free at the library. Sometimes members of the historical society are available at the library to offer some assistance as well. Check with us on Tuesday or Thursday afternoons.
We want to highlight the library’s Photo Center this week. We have equipment that can digitize old slides and copy VHS tapes to DVDs. This service is free unless we have to provide the DVD. We can copy and enlarge photos as well. There is a fee for this.
The Cloverbuds will meet at the library on Tuesday, January 14, at 5 p.m. This is a fun exploratory learning experience with the Dade County 4-H for kids in grades K-3. This month they will be learning to sew.
And, because it's a new year, here's a listing of our current library hours: Tuesdays – 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesdays – 10 a.m to 5 p.m., Thursdays – 10 a.m to 6 p.m.,
Fridays – 10 a.m to 4 p.m., Saturdays – 10 a.m to 2 p.m. Closed on Sundays and Mondays. Our wifi is available 24/7 outside the library.
