At approximately 1 a.m. this morning, a Dade County deputy observed a vehicle traveling on Interstate 24, and a traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle. After making contact with the male driver and female passenger, the deputy observed the two subjects “shaking” and “acting very nervous.”. After a brief investigation, the ceputy requested a search of the vehicle and was given permission by the driver.
While searching the vehicle, the deputy found several individual bags of methamphetamine, a large amount of marijuana candy, items related to trafficking illegal drugs, items related to the use of illegal drugs, a stolen handgun and several magazines containing ammunition.
The 40-caliber handgun was found to be stolen out of Henry County.
Approximately 87 grams (3 ounces) of methamphetamine were also recovered and approximately 1370 grams (3 pounds) of THC “candy.”
Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Dade County Jail, where the female was found to be in possession of additional illegal drugs.
Both subjects are currently being held in the Dade County Jail with a $20,000 bond each.
The arrestees were: Michael A Kovacs (right) 34, of Buchanan, Tenn), who was charged with two counts of trafficking illegal drugs, one count of heft by bringing stolen property into the state and one count of possession of a firearm during the commtission of a crime; and:
Bobbie L Trout (left), 24, of Dresden, Tenn., who was charged with two counts of trafficking illegal drugs, one count of possession of drug-related objects, one count of theft by bringing stolen property into the state, one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and one 1 count of possession of drugs by inmates (crossing the guard line).
