Dade First/Family Connections is holding its first Parent Café of the year and it is on Teen Internet Safety. The Sexual Assault Victim’s Advocacy Center will present the program.
Parents and Teens will be in separate rooms learning safety tips on cyber bullying, internet trolling and harassment. They will also discuss questions like, “What is sexting and what are the consequences?” and “What is consent?”
The program will be held at 5:30 p.m.on Tuesday, February 4, at the Dade County Public Library. It is recommended for ages 13 and up, but that is at the parents’ discretion. No registration is required and the program is free. Light refreshments will be provided.
If you haven’t used our online electronic checkout service, and would like to try it, come by the library and we will help you sign on. The service is called RBDigital and it is free if you have a library card. You can check out ebooks and audiobooks to any of your electronic devices--computer, laptops, tablets or even your phone.
You may recheck your ebooks after two weeks, or if you are finished reading, it will just disappear from your device.
Many magazines are also available. After your initial set-up, it is not necessary to come into the library to use RBDigital, so using this service can save a lot of time and money. Remember that your library card does have to be active. Library cards expire every two years but can be renewed for free as long as all fines are paid and you still live or work in Georgia.
We have collections of large-print books available for patrons who need that. Ask us where they are located. They are designated as large print in our card catalog which you can access online at chrl.org.
