The Book Club met last week and we welcomed a new member. The book to be discussed in February is Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer. In this nonfiction book, Krakauer gives firsthand details of the events of the 1996 Mount Everest expedition where some members died and some were stranded in a storm. We will meet on the third Tuesday of the month, February 18.
There will be a Teen Internet Safety class sponsored by Dade First Family Connection on Tuesday, February 4. at 5:30 p.m. at the Dade County Public Library. The presentation will be from the Sexual Assault Victim’s Advocacy Center. There will be a session for parents and a separate session for teens.
The library staff is already making plans for Summer Reading, so expect some quality programs and watch for announcements about dates.
The Friends of the Library met last week and voted to give $1,000 to support Summer Reading. If you would like to join the Friends of the Library and help us to support library programs, just ask for a membership form at the desk. Membership is $10 per year or $100 for a lifetime membership. We will put you on our email list and let you know when the next meeting will be.
We got in more of the Davis Christmas tree ornaments for those of you who might not have gotten one. We also have extras of the other 13 ornaments.
