The Book Club will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, to discuss Into Thin Air, a nonfiction book by Jon Krakauer. Krakauer was a member of an expedition that climbed Mount Everest in 1996. An experienced climber, Krakauer made it to the summit and returned to tell the story, but many expedition members in his group and others were stranded in a violent storm and some did not make it back down the mountain. This is a firsthand account of those events. You are welcome to join us for the discussion.
The Dade 4-H Clover Buds will meet at the library on Tuesday, February 11, at 5 p.m. Clover Buds is for kids in Pre-K through third grade.
The Friends of the Library are planning to make digital copies of some Dade County yearbooks available for sale later in the spring. At 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, we will have a training session for Friends members on making the digital copies to be sold later.
We had 25 or more people attending our Internet Safety program last week. We hope this will help make people more aware of this issue. Thanks to Dade-First Family Connections for sponsoring this program.

Here's another tidbit: PINES has a new logo. PINES stands for Public Information Network for Electronic Services and it is Georgia's “borderless library” system, which allows local library card holders free access to books and other materials in 300 library branches and affiliated service outlets throughout the state.

Saturday, March 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., is Read to Lead; Saturday, April 18, is the Festival of Life and Health Fair; and Friday evening, April 24, is the annual Glow Run. We will have more details on these events in the coming weeks, but having these dates may help if you plan to take part in one or more of these events.
CHI Memorial will be doing mammograms at the health fair. Those interested should preregister at memorial.org/mobile-mammography or by calling (423) 495-4040 or (866) 591-2254. Please have your doctor’s full name, your driver’s license or ID and your insurance card if you have health insurance. (If you don't, the nonprofit CHI finds
resources to pay for the exam and will also help work out arrangements for any necessary treatment plan if the mammogram is abnormal.)
