Schools Close Early Today

Writer's picture: Robin Ford WallaceRobin Ford Wallace

Dade County Schools are letting out early today. Classes will end three hours before their normal time at all four Dade County schools in deference to earlier warnings of snow this afternoon. Dr. Jan Harris, superintendent of schools, is known for her better-safe-than-sorry weather policy.

Otherwise, though some colloquial reports of snow on the mountains are appearing online, the local winter-weather crisis seems to have been called off, with internet forecasts now more inclined to talk about rain than snow. But Dade County Deputy Clerk Carey Anderson in a live stream this morning said the county is watching the weather closely and will issue bulletins if necessary.
