Get Your Georgia Historic Farm App In by May 1

The Georgia Historic Preservation Division is now accepting applications for the Georgia Centennial Farm Award. To qualify, your farm should have been operating for 100 years with a minimum of 10 acres, produce at least $1,000 in annual farm-generated income, and retain at least 10 acres from the original purchase.

There are three categories of awards:

  • Centennial Heritage Farm Award, for farms that have been family owned for 100 years and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places

  • Centennial Family Farm Award, for farms that have been owned by a family 100 years, but not listed on the National Register of Historic Places

  • Centennial Farm Award, for farms that have been in operation for 100 years, not owned by the same family and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Centennial Farm program is administered by the Georgia Historic Preservation Division in partnership with Georgia Farm Bureau Federation; Georgia Department of Agriculture; Georgia EMC; Georgia Forestry Commission; and the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter.

Local Note: Two Dade County family farms have achieved this status in the last two years. The Trenton-Dade County Historic Preservation Commission is aware of at least eight to 10 more farms in Dade eligible for this award.
