The folks in the Dade County Historical Society have been busy reorganizing the Local History Room recently and some of our volunteers have been working for months--no, years--to organize our collections there so that they are more easily accessed. You will find large binders with articles and pictures about particular communities and subjects. There are boxes of pictures, scrapbooks, family histories and other materials that can be stored in boxes. There is a catalog of what is in each box.

We also have most of the yearbooks from the first Dade High, Davis High, Northwest Georgia, Dade County High School and the elementary schools. There are usually volunteers who can help you with these materials at the library on Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons.

The Historical Society will hold a genealogy workshop in the Local History Room at the library on Tuesday, March 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. If you’re just starting on researching your family history, we will have folks there who can help you out.
