Today, during a special called meeting, the Dade County Board of Education hired Michelle Doane-Beeler as principal of Dade Middle School effective immediately. She will officially take over on Wednesday, March 11.

Dr. Sandra Spivey, the former principal of DMS, was promoted to Central Office in January, creating the vacancy.

Other personnel moves announced after the called meeting were the transfer of Renae Powell from the Dade Elementary School cafeteria to a custodian job at Dade County High School and the hiring of Cynthia Sabogal as a bus aide

Dr. Jan Harris, superintendent of schools, issued the following press release about the new DMS principal:

Ms. Doane-Beeler comes to Dade from Calhoun City Schools, where she served as assistant principal for Calhoun City Middle School. She holds Georgia Educational Leadership certificates in English 6-12, gifted in-field, middle grades language arts, reading, social studies (4-8) and reading endorsement 6-12. Ms. Doane-Beeler earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Georgia, a master of education degree from Berry College and an educational specialist degree from Lincoln Memorial University. She has served as an assistant principal, PBIS district coordinator, academic team coach, intervention specialist and teacher. Ms. Doane-Beeler came highly recommended to us by the superintendent of Calhoun City Schools, Dr. Michelle Taylor, who said: “Ms. Doane-Beeler is a leader in her district and seen as an excellent communicator. She has the capacity to listen, empathize, and connect with individual students, parents, and teachers. She models the traits of a leader to her peers and those in which she supports and supervises. Ms. Doane-Beeler is decisive and confident, seeking guidance when needed and forging ahead when appropriate to positively meet the needs of boys and girls under her care.” Superintendent Harris said, “At this time, I am delighted to welcome Principal Michelle DoaneBeeler to Dade County. Ms. Doane-Beeler possesses all the sterling qualities we are seeking in this key leadership position. I am confident she will be a tremendous asset to the Dade County school system.”
