Schools Will Provide, Deliver Kids' Meals: Here's the Schedule

During the coronoavirus closure, the county school system is providing food assistance for children. This information was released by Dr. Jan Harris Sunday night:

Dade County Schools will provide free meals to all children ages 2-18. No paperwork is required.

Meals for children can be obtained by the following ways.

Regular School Bus Routes

Buses will drop off meals between the hours of 10 a.m. and noon on:

Monday, March 16,

Wednesday March 18

Monday, March 23

Wednesday, March 25

Community Locations

At community sites, parent can drive through to pick up meals for children at the front of both schools:

Dade Elementary 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Davis Elementary 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Four meals will be provided on Monday: 2 Breakfasts and 2 Lunches

Six Meals will be provided on Wednesday: 3 Breakfasts and 3 Lunches.

Additional information from Dade County

Expect buses about four hours after their regular morning pickup time.

Also especially for kids: Tri-State Food Pantry will be open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 4-6 p.m. and will be providing food kits especially designed for children. The location is on Highway 136 West behind Sand Mountain United Methodist Church. For more information you can call Rose Powell, (423) 316-0384.
