Schools to be Closed Until April 24

Dade County!

Everyone, I just received this from the Office of the Governor: Today Governor Brian P. Kemp issued Executive Order 03.26.20.02 closing public elementary and secondary schools for in-person instruction through April 24, 2020. Students may return to school on Monday, April 27, 2020.

"I am deeply grateful to State School Superintendent Richard Woods, the Georgia Department of Education, superintendents, and parents for keeping us informed and helping us make the right decision for our students," said Governor Kemp. "Throughout this process, we will continue to seek the advice of public health officials, school leaders, and families to ensure the health and safety of the educational community. As we approach April 24, 2020, we ask for continued patience and flexibility since circumstances may change, but we encourage families to stay strong and follow the guidance of federal, state, and local leaders in the weeks ahead." What does this mean for Dade County Schools?

  1. All Dade County Schools will remain closed until APRIL 27, 2020.

  2. Food will be distributed by bus on Monday and Wednesday each week except Spring Break.

  3. Spring Break will remain in effect April 6 - 10, 2020. (No meals will be delivered and no digital learning.)

These are trying times, but we will get through these days of uncertainty. We are thankful we have zero cases of COVID-19 in Dade County. Keep practicing social distancing and follow the guidelines recommended by the CDC.

I pray for your continued good health and safety. I promise I will keep you updated as soon as I receive information. Our Board of Ed will have a virtual board meeting Monday, March 30, at noon. You can follow through KWN.
